Sakti3, just keep an eye on that name
A University of Michigan engineering department spinoff, experimenting in solid-state battery cell prototypes - energy density of 1,100 Wh/l - twice of lithium-ion batteries, 'No God (or material) machines'! They have great potential that global multibillion-dollar engineering giant, Dyson has invested millions on Sakti3 technologies. Smaller batteries same charge longevity. They may start at home and personal electronics but a huge EV market has the greatest potential. Tesla don't build that Gigafactory just yet...
Sakti3: The Next-Gen Battery Company You Need to Know About |
One link to the Dyson deal:
Dyson charges ahead with battery-maker Sakti3 - CNET 1,100 Wh/l means you could theoretically replace a small cars gas tank with a same sized 50 kWh battery, and it would have a range of over 300 km/ 200 miles. It would be at least twice as heavy as a full gas tank - but the EV motor would be much lighter than the ICE and ICE specific systems (cooling, exhaust, alternator, intake). |
Battery energy density and cost are key developments in the electric vehicle design.
