Installing Scangauge

Hello all,

This is my first post, and perhaps the one where I admit I am not particularly adept at mechanical things. I want to do a lot better on my fuel efficiency, though, and have already broken off my roof antenna (I dropped a canoe on it!).

I just ordered a Scangauge2 for my 2003 Ford Focus. When it says "plug and play" what will I plug it in to? Is this something that a rank beginner like myself will be able to figure out, or will I need to take this to a decent mechanic to do it properly?

Thanks!

The OBDII plug is located in the driver's footwell. It is trapezoidal and looks like this:

It's only a matter of finding it (the other Focus owners on the site could help you) and plugging the cable.

Wow!

That was quick. Many thanks. I'm sure I can find that and plug in. I was thinking I'd have to pull some sort of wiring harness off the fuel injector or O2 sensor or some such. That really is easy. I'm excited to try it. A new Honda I drove the other day had a knight-rider like bar graph that gave up to the moment fuel use, and that was pretty cool. This is sure a lot less expensive than a new Honda.

Thanks again.

Sometimes it might be behind a plastic panel or like in my Mazda, it might be "hanging" upside-down above the pedals and it might not be so obvious...
