Scangauge type instrument for obd1?

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone made a Scangauge type instrument or any good mpg display for obd1 cars? Or are they only for 96+ cars?

You'll want to look into getting yourself an mpguino.

is the mpguino the only option for obd1 cars?

deathtrain 03-03-2012 12:29 PM

yup

IWantHX 03-03-2012 03:14 PM

does the MPGunio display anything other than MPG?

It reads from the vehicle speed sensor and counts the injector pulses, by default. I was thinking of adding additional feeds to mine, but for now it gives a lot of combinations of data from those two feeds, such as gallons used, gallons per hour, a digital reading of miles per hour, idle time, instant mpg, average mpg, gallons left in tank (you input tank size in setup), miles left in tank, and a few others.

Awesome, thank you guys!

Can you guys think of any other usefull instrument to help me keep an eye on my mpg other than the MPGuino, "fuel saver" vacuum gauge, and a wideband o2? (I plan on getting my ecu chipped and tuned for economy)

Or would those three devices be all I'd need to monitor my engine/fuel usage?

I find the MPGuino to be adequate on it's own.

I have looked high and low. Since MPGuino isn't selling them any more, does any one know of an alternative? Thanks.

I realize I am replying over 3 years later, but since I am currently looking into it...

The Wiki page on here for mpguino has three sellers listed. One says they are closing up shop while the other two took me to a page to buy their mpguino. Did you try contacting these guys? Just wondering.

Apologies in advance if you already checked these...

There was a sort of scan gauge for obd1. I have one that would read GM, Ford, and Chrysler products.

MobilOne, what is it called? This comes up periodically:

Just order one from a fine gentleman in Estonia.

I looked into the SuperMID when Basjoos mentioned it before. Yoshi, the guy that makes it, is reclusive, overwhelmingly busy, or something. There do not seem to be very many units in existence, so information is scarce.

I just spent a long time searching again. I may have found some more leads, but I need to take care of responsibilities. I will report back if I find anything.

It isn't too hard to build one. I built mine for $10 in parts (I have a junk pile I can loot switches and similar from though).

XIST,

Hi,
I'll have to check on it next time I get to B'ham, AL. That is where it is right now and I'm in ATL.

The MPGuino looks better than each of these and I cannot find anything else:
