scanguage II users
hello" gimme some input on my SG II . I bought and used it in my honda crz for about 6 yrs, no problem but mainly used it for the digital water temp as i run blockoff plates for an inlet air heater.
Sold the crz took the gage out and now have it in a 2002 jeep woods car. I bought the jeep with a cel lite on...... hooked up the sg ii and the obd port sure looked crudie but got it to work but often it stops for some reason, wiggle or actuall y unplug and plug back in. ive done this 20 + times so i feel it has made enough friction to clean the contacs.. heres the rub.. if you go to scan its got 4 stored codes but cannot delete them. matter of fact i cannot get the sg2 to actually show the code # tryed the clear, force clear AND it accepts but if you scan again it shows the 4 stored codes. Back to the cel lite. i can get it to go out temporarlily by a disconnect bat but i just live with it. |
I don't know about Scanguage II or Jeep woods cars, but if the fix works temporarily repeatedly then it must be the contacts.
Burnish the male connector, spray Contact Cleaner in the female connector and plug and unplug it repeatedly while the cleaner is still liquid. |
Are the wires leading to your OBD2 port damaged or loose? That would cause an inconsistent connection. Also if you were using it in your CRZ you probably had the Scangauge configured in hybrid mode, change it to gas mode for the Jeep.

as far as i can tell the hybrid mode only changes the "unit on" when the auto stop is in play. when my sc 2 quits you cant giggle the connection to get it to restart it requires a disconnect and a reconnect and it starts up. I still cant remove the 4 stored codes or even read what they are. it wont cancel the cel lite either although disconnecting the battery will turn the lite off for a short time.
another thing i recently discovered and it was relevant to my other post about my dodge C\V the sc voltage must be the alt volts and not the battery volts. on a recent run i was showing 12.1 v and when i got back to the garage i had 12.9 measured at the battery. also it was a sunny day and my 80 wt solar aray was online... |
