Scott pointed out today that one political team appears to be operating more within the realm of measurable criteria, whereas the other appears to be operating in the realm of subjective feeling. Number of hostages released can be quantified for instance, whereas level of evil dictator has no quantifiable basis.

It discloses they bought in 2021 for $655k, so hopefully at least $100k in equity. Apparently they did live in Portland until their move in 2021 (right around when my good friend decided to get the heck out).

Since this is already on the internet... apparently they got married around the same time I did.

It sounded like he is eligible for a certain therapy only if the cancer is bad enough for it to be effective. Which way does one hope for in that case?

My cousin died yesterday from complications from an earlier stroke, due to poorly managed type 2 diabetes. Only his 10 year old son remains of that lineage.

I never feel possessive of threads I start. I post anything of interest here so I don't gum up Doug's threads with my OT musings.

Scott mentioned billions of tax dollars were spent to solve the homeless problem in CA, and it was just stollen. We know it's stollen because the homeless problem isn't any better.

Then he mentioned that if our young adults aren't reproducing because of anxiety about climate change, then the culprit isn't climate change itself. The problem is having catastrophized the issue, which has no positive reason (not to mention lack of supporting evidence) to do so.

What I find perplexing is how humanity can just never learn from the past. We don't apply 1st principle problem solving, so we mistake symptoms for the cause. As Scott points out, and which is plainly obvious, homelessness isn't due to lack of homes. Then when a ton of money is thrown at the wrong end of a problem, we allow ourselves to think the reason we're failing is because we haven't scooped enough money into the furnace. After that we elect people who promise they will shovel even more money into the furnace. The real problem is we don't have a big enough shovel, they say.

He touched on the topic I'm always mentioning, that if a plan doesn't include measurable objectives, periodic measurement, and analysis of the results, then it's not a plan, but a grift on taxpayers.

Homeless people I have delt with are so messed up that they trust NOTHING they don't work out for themselves. If they work it out that nobody wants them somewhere, you can't make them stay no matter the pressure applied via law enforcement or other means. If they work it out that somewhere is safe for them, it's like they get mentally glued to that condition. Reality is immaterial to them because their own percieved reality which for them is superior and ultimately the most trustworthy
