Searching for a hypermiling / ECO driving app (collecting points for driving smoothly...)

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a app which will help me to hypermile. I'm not looking for tools or devices like Scangauge or the Torque app and I already have average factory istrumentation in my car.

More like kind of a game/challenge were you hear a warning sound, when you're accelerating or braking too hard.
I think the GPS data from most modern smartphones should be good enough to recognize the difference between hard and soft accelerating. I know that the GPS antenna of a smartphone is not scientifically accurate, but I see this as more as a reminder or motivation to hypermile.

So is anybody using an app, which gives you something like a score when doing the basic hypermiling stuff, like smooth accelerating, gliding and soft braking? And gives you a warning alert when accelerating or braking abruptly?

At the moment I'm using Garmin EcoChallenge (developed in 2010 and available on Garmin satnavs), but this is just way too sensitive and also full of bugs.

One app that goes pretty far into that direction is called "ECO Driving Speedometer": https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...rs.speedometer

You can choose the sensitivity between 1 (high) to 30 (low) and can define when you get warned. Not tested it that much yet. With the app you can't collect points, but you can set some alerts, for accelerating or braking too hard.
One major disadvantage for me personally is, that you can only use it in landscape mode.

The others apps I tried were not that good.

"EcoDrive Free Speedometer" https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...w.ecodrivefree

"Tronik Eco Driving" (polish language) https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...nik.ecodriving

"OSeven" https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...en.safedriving

"EcoDrive" (french language) https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...e.ats.ecodrive

"SmarterDriver" - https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....smarterdriver

"My Ecodrive" https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...xis.myecodrive

My Volt came with an app "My Chevrolet App" I think it's called that when you log in tells you how you're driving and how many times you use "excessive acceleration"

Once the free version expired after like 90 days I didn't bother to get the pay version. My wife already performs this function very well so it was pointless to pay for an app too

I'll do a quick review of all the apps I tested. I'll start with "ECO Driving Speedometer"

It's basically a very basic speedometer app with an
ECO drive function. You can choose between mph and kmh and it looks like this:

In the settings you can set the sensitivity between 1 (lowest) to 30 (highest):

There are three different notification types:

https://ecomodder.com/forum/attachme...1&d=1613689133

Unfortunately you can't collect points or get any reward other than a sound effect or a voice notification. The default sounds system did not work and I find the voice commands annoying. But you can also choose your own sounds effects, if you have some. Another downside, the app only works in landscape mode.

I'll test some of the other apps and post short reviews.

I did some test driving with the "EcoDrive Free Speedometer". It looks like that:

https://ecomodder.com/forum/attachme...1&d=1613752009

It uses the GPS antenna of the phone and there is a little ECO score in the middle of the screen.
It's very sensitive, but works fine. Not much settings available, no ECO driving notifications or warnings available, but you can set an alarm when going over a certain speed:

DriveSmart | Are you a good driver

I tested another Android app called DriveSmart | Are you a good driver. It's available in english and spanish.

You basically collect points for being a good and eco-friendly driver. It takes the measurements from the G sensor of your phone and you loose points for fast cornering, speeding, harsh braking and strong accelerating.

The app will record your trips and gives you some data afterwards like distance, time and average speed, incidents (the things I named above).

Although I was driving pretty fuel efficient, it seems like I can improve my eco score:
