Shelf Spoiler ...
Hello -
What do you think of this (Ikea? :p ) shelf-spoiler? : http://ecomodder.com/forum/member-cf...lf-spoiler.jpg It *appears* to be about 14.7 degrees from rear-window top to the end of the shelf, which would be good for aero (right!?!?!?). Sometimes you get lucky? CarloSW2 |
I have envisioned a much nicer looking version of this many times...
maybe he's an aero savant. |
Of course I can't find a pic now but I remember browsing through a Corvette parts catalog back in the early 80's they had a rear wing that had two little indents so you could set your drink down near the outside corners. LOL Wish I could find that picture.

OMG that is soooo cooool! You can see it's a trick pic from the safety pucks(?) he put between the legs and the paint. He should have done more typical pictures "in the world" for laughs. CarloSW2 |
I thought that shelf was for downforce, to keep the trunk from opening while driving?
|
And of course you have somewhere to do your ironing when you stop.

It's an aero device / it's a diaper changing station!

I like them. They push the body closer to the streamline flow pathway.
The car pictured could also use a shelf mid-way up the backlight and also extending back until it intersected the imaginary streamline flow pathway.Like Ford kinda did with the Sierra concept and Merkur XR4Ti. They create the locked-vortex that the outer flow skips over as if it were a solid surface. |
What about a little lip spoiler on the roof? Would that do anything or just look goofy?
