Should I punch a hole in my engine?
Years ago when I worked at Sony Pictures, I met this guy who drove a Toyota Yaris sedan. He had a long commute and needed extra high mpg so he punched a hole in the engine somewhere and was getting 50 mpg or something with a Yaris. He said the car lost power (and they only have a little engine in the first place) but that the mpg was worth it. Where exactly would he have punched a hole? And would that not be recommended in terms of getting dirt in the engine?
Thanks! Atheria P.S. I probably won't do this, but I am intrigued. :D |
i'm intrigued too!!

Someone is playing a joke.

that car could get 50mpg by hypermileing.

I'm over 50 and wasn't sure if 'MAYBE" i was missing out on some 'new slang'......

Only things that "make sense" would be putting holes in the airbox ahead of the filter (guys do it and think that it helps even though it doesn't) and/or punching bigger holes in the cat and/or muffler, which not only don't help, but that's a pretty new car to be screwing up in that manner. I think the guy was pulling your leg.

I hear if you punch speed holes in the hood of a car it makes it go faster.
