Should Tahoe Hybrids be allowed to park in the hybrid parking stalls at Ikea?

Pet peeve. Should they be allowed because they are at least trying a bit, or is the whole idea of a Tahoe hybrid purely ridiculous to begin with?

Seems like it could be the optimal ikea trip vehicle, assuming you were buying something or a lot of things that wouldn't fit in a smaller vehicle, plus you probably the wife... And her sister.... And her mom that all have to go so that you don't buy the wrong stuff. I would rather not take my small car to ikea now that I think about it

A spade is a spade so it gets to park in the spot , embarrassingly , with its shameless 20/23 mpg city/highway mileage.

We have hybrid trucks and buses here, but no special spaces for them at Ikea.

Well if you are to look at the letter of the law yes. It's a hybrid car and therefore can use hybrid parking. I know we make fun of making a car like that a hybrid and how most people who drive them don't make use of that fact but look at it this way say you have a few kids so you can't just buy a 5 seater car you have to get something with more seats. Your only options then are either a van or an SUV if you want slightly better gas mileage for whatever reason you would appreciate the hybrid option.

I get that most people out there don't buy it for the reason someone on here would but there may be a few that did. Is it fair to say that they should have bought a car that doesn't fit there needs just because it "makes more sense" as a hybrid?

You could look at it from the principle of it and say that only cars that get 50+ mpg can park there but that's pretty hard to enforce.

Or you could not really worry about it cause it doesn't make a big difference in the big picture.

Next time you go they'll probably have a charge station, and it will be plug-in vehicles only

Can I use the carpool lane with 2 people in a Suburban????
Or 2 people in a Hummer?

Seems rather judgmental and 'better than thou' to me......

Just because the sign says hybrid doesn't mean it has to be a good hybrid. Can the sign even be enforced legally?

A hybrid vehicle is one that uses 2 distinct sources of power. This was great when I had a 454 one ton, crew cab, long bed Chevy that ran on both propane and gasoline. I got some sweet hybrid stickers on the side and took advantage of all the hybrid perks I could while getting 12 mpg. I also had a motor home with a similar powertrain. My hybrid Southbound 32'er. It didn't fit in the hybrid spots well.
