Show me your Sunfire and what you've done to it!
 

I acquired, due to crappy timing with everything I own slowly breaking down around my ears [happy face!], a '97 Pontiac Sunfire that belonged to my son's mother.

I'll be driving it as long as I need to, but there's an added benefit that the body is essentially junk, and we're only keeping the car as spare parts for her 2000 Cavalier, which she adores.

That means I'm allowed to attach all manner of anything I like to it... for science' sake, anyway... by any means reasonable and legal. Such as pop rivets, wood screws, and nail guns.

So now I need to see what others have done, so I can go ahead and destroyFIX this hunk o' junk!

Boat tail, front air dam, Sideview mirror delete, underbelly pan, remove EVERYTHING from interior, the list goes on with that kind of freedom.

Pump up the tires. All the other work I've done on mine has been to keep it running! :( The previous owner didn't take care of it at all. I'm lucky the oil was changed... (at least I think it was).

I have to be careful about modifying the front end, since it's a direct [full swap] bolt on to the Cavalier. There is already no upper opening and the stagnation point is very low, so a lower dam from edging or something may be beneficial, especially considering that I'm not lowering the car.

I do need to fix the exhaust flex pipe - which I have - and the intake tube - which I don't, and diagnose the random cold misfire that always goes away once it warms up.

While I could remove a bunch of the spare parts, I do have to keep it capable of hauling at least my son around, when necessary. I sort of planned on removing the passenger seat though, because it's just an annoyance and extra weight.

This car's been cobbled together a few times to make things work. It no longer has a parking brake, there's random wiring 'fixes' in some places that are all stable enough but not as they should be, etc.

I did recently put a head gasket, fuel pump, and coil packs on it [literally days before taking it off the road because she changed the head gasket in the Cavalier and started driving/falling in love with it].

It currently has brand newish tires on it, which will be getting changed out for a crappy set of 18'' wheels and less than desirable tires so as to save the life of the newish ones that they can be used on the Cavalier later on. Unfortunately the 18's are a bit taller and heavier, but they'll have to work for now.

I do have to finish removing the AC components from this car also, although admittedly, there is very little gain now that the system is no longer being driven and is just dead weight.

Eighteens?! :D Where will you find pizza pans that large? :D

On the rears, I was just gonna pop rivet some covers to the body [or use screws, so I can pull them off if I need to change tires again]. For the fronts, I was just gonna make some little angled spats to shove the air outside of the tire well, figured it'd be good enough.

The rear looks really smooth, so I don't know if I need to do anything from the roofline down, tbh. I'm sure there's room for improvement there, but how much is debatable.

It's a 2.2 OHV auto btw.
