Snyder ST600-C

I've become totally fascinated by these. Cheap Chinese junk? Oh yes indeed. But I don't care. I'd LOVE to have one of these to play with. They "claim" up to 70+ mpg, but they max out around 55 mph or so. I bet with some TLC and ingenuity you could really coax some extra out of them in both respects.

If you could keep it running, that is. ;)

A/C and airbags would be nice (heck, a lap bet would be nice... I hear they don't have one), but they're actually a trike, not a car, so with that perspective, it's not a terrible deal. Still, $8k seems a little steep considering where it's coming from.

Is that a motorized "Zap Zebra"??

(Or was a Zap Zebra an electrified Snyder ST600-C? :D)

Yes, by driving them backward. (Sorry, couldn't resist. But it's likely true.)

Ha! It is. I've never seen one of those before, but doing a search, I find the electric version has had not one but 2 different recalls because it didn't meet federal braking distance requirements. I didn't even know there WAS a braking distance requirement. Must have used the Flintstone technique! The Snyder uses a 600cc FI twin. I've spotted an 800cc option online, but looks like we can't get those here. Probably some emissions regs or something. The 800cc would probably be perfect, just enough oomph to clear 60-65 mph.

I'm waiting on someone to say it'll crash like the Reliant Robins, but that shouldn't be the case here. Reliant, God only knows why, placed the engine directly over the front center wheel. The Snyder places the engine between the rear wheels, so the stability should be way, way better. Not as good as a reverse trike layout, but way beyond the Robin's suicidal tendencies.

Fixed that for you. :)

I take it you've seen that episode of Top Gear. :D

Makes me giggle just thinking about it! One of my favourites.

Swordsman 04-11-2013 04:30 PM

Hey, gotta give the Robins credit: they're durable little beasties. Even my wife commented on how well Jeremy's was handling the crashes. Of course, we don't know how much they repaired between takes!

I'd rock a Robin in a heartbeat. Death trap? Probably. But how cool would it be to have a car that pops wheelies on demand? :D

RedDevil 04-11-2013 04:49 PM

Engine in the back, no space at all up front. But it has roof rails... Yeah. That will do ;)

I'd take a robin and put an exocage on it just to purposely roll it everyday:D

I've never heard of this Snyder, but a quick search shows them for sale on eBay motors. Not a bad option for a city car if you have a motorcycle licence (I don't).

There are similar models fitted with engines as small as 200cc.

rmay635703 06-03-2017 11:23 PM

These used to be sold under the wildfire monkier,

I believe Piotro ??? was one of the victims who own one, should ask how that's working for him

That's a different model, with a shorter wheelbade and the cockpit beside the front wheel, which turns it more unstable.

WatchJRGo bought a Snyder ST600-C!

He claims that you have never seen one, but it had a decent discussion here. It is curious to go back in time to 2013 Ecomodder. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlQ0EnQDtCo

He replaced the fuel filter, said it has the wrong battery, inoperable headlights, and the sunroof pops out for some reason:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8UAhTINRZs It is horribly loud and slower than a semi!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_h_TAD5dr7g

Sounds perfect

Xist 04-19-2020 08:50 PM

To clarify, the sunroof is removable, but doesn't seem designed to stay open. He said that he cannot find replacement parts, so he will just enjoy it as-is [for as long as he can].

What kind of American ingenuity is that?! He put a Corvette engine in a Rolls Royce! Make it work John Ross!

I don't think that red one is $4000 worth but the other guy seemed to get a fair price. Something like $1300?

What they would be cool for is a closed circuit racetrack. 20 of these identically prepared, wheel to wheel. Oh! Better still, 100 of them each with a US Senator driving and that's how future legislation gets passed. I'd be a Cspan watching fool!

Xist 04-20-2020 03:07 PM

John Ross paid $1,800. He says they last forever, probably because of how simple they are mechanically, and because the owners are likely willing to drive them despite minor broken components.

Well, with Senators racing those we wouldn't need to worry about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez saying "You get a trillion dollars! You get a trillion dollars! And you get a trillion dollars! Corporations?! You get fined a trillion dollars! You get fined a trillion dollars! And you get fined a trillion dollars!"

RedDevil 04-20-2020 03:51 PM

Another one that has not done 500 miles per year! Think of the fuel you'd save!

This must be the automotive equivalent of dwarf bread.
Quote:

"Well, now," said Granny, rubbing her hands together, "I may be able to help you here. Could be I've got some dwarf bread to spare."
"Nah. Not proper dwarf bread, " said the spokesdwarf moodily. "Proper dwarf bread's got to be dropped in rivers and dried out and sat on and left and looked at every day and put away again. You just can't get it down here."
"This could be," said Granny Weatherwax, "your lucky day."
"To be frank," said Nanny Ogg, "I think the cat pissed on some of it."
The spokesdwarf looked up, his eyes aglow.
"Hot damn!"
or, more to the point:
Quote:

"It was miraculous, the dwarf bread. No one ever went hungry when they had some dwarf bread to avoid. You only had to look at it for a moment, and instantly you could think of dozens of things you'd rather eat. Your boots, for example. Mountains. Raw sheep. Your own foot."
"Shall we take the car?"
"Nah, I got a blister on my foot. We'll walk."
"Huh? If you have a blister, why not take the car?"
"Hey, it is one blister, not 50! Pay attention!"

"Bet it's a long time since you've had proper dwarf bread, then," said Granny.
The spokesdwarf's eyes misted over.
"Baked from the finest stone-ground grit, just like mother used to jump up and down on it," Granny went on.
A sort of collective sigh went up from the dwarfs.
"you just can't get it down here," said the spokesdwarf, to the ground. "It's the water, or something. It falls to bits after hardly any years at all."
"They puts flour in it," said someone behind him, sourly.
"It's worse'n that. The baker over in Genua puts dried fruit in it," said another dwarf.
"Well, now," said Granny, rubbing her hands together, "I may be able to help you here. Could be I've got some dwarf bread to spare."

I could not find any nationwide using AutoTempest and OfferUp.

Hopefully he makes a video for the Miles zx40 so I can sell for $4000

Xist 04-20-2020 06:23 PM

I will tell you what, you suggest that he buy one as soon as he posts a new video and let me know. I will /like the comment and second the notion, but it would help if you helped him find one. I did not find one on AutoTempest or OfferUp. I found one on GovDeals.com, but it sold in 2015.

I cannot find one for sale anywhere, but I do not know where to look.

The rest of the pictures of that Snyder for sale. JR has been working on other projects, getting his grandfather's F100 running again and assembling a Sprite.
