Spoiler Question

I have an 02 honda civic ex 5spd coupe. The trunk lid is damaged from a mild rear impact and I am looking to replace from a salvage yard. I have only been able to locate one that matches my car paint code but it has the factory spoiler on it.

Question is...will this have a significant impact on my fuel economy. I drive 22 miles to work each way but it is all city. I average about 34.5 currently. I do not want to purchase a new hood and then have to paint it when I can get one under half the price. If the difference in fuel economy will be negligible, I might jump on the one I found. I knew this was the place to ask. I am 36 years old and not looking to be cool, just practical.

don't sweat it.
If it matches....get it!

Your already driving :turtle: a fuel efficient car....splurge!!!!!!

Get it and try it out.
The factory spoilers usually don't kill fuel economy.
If do you notice a big difference let us know.

I was told by a dealer mechanic, that I trusted, that the factory spoilers were set to have the least affect on wind resistance. Their sole purpose in life was to look good and make sales. Buy the matching trunk lid and enjoy it.

FWIW, most factory spoilers are more 'decoration' than 'function' until you're driving >100 mph.

trunk lid

I also say,go with the 1/2-priced used lid.I wouldn't anticipate any remarkable difference in mpg.
