Spreadsheet for tracking all kinds of mileage stuff!
 

Hello everyone,

I've been working on this spreadsheet for a week or two and I keep on noodling it and refining it, but I think I'm ready to share it. I had been looking for more and more statistics on my gas mileage and other ways of looking at it, so I starting putting this together. It's based loosely on another spreadsheet I found on the internet by someone named "f1ip", but it's been heavily modified. It shows fuel efficiency not only in MPG, but gals/100 miles. I've also added several other cost breakdowns and fuel usage stats, maximum range per tank, overall averages and running (last 3) averages.

I also wanted a way to track how much money I had been saving since I started hypermiling, so I created this to keep a running total of that, plus how many gallons I've saved and how many pounds of CO2 I've prevented from entering the atmosphere. There are cells in which you can enter your car's EPA combined MPG and your "pre-hypermiling" MPG, if you know what that was, so you can see how much you're saving. I also put in a trip fuel cost estimator based on your last 3 MPGs and most recent fuel cost per gallon.

Let me know what you think of it and if you find any errors or ways of improving it. I'm not that great at Excel, so this was a learning experience for me, and my wife had to help me a lot. By the way, only enter data in the light turquoise cells.

I made my own Excel sheet too. Here is a trick to keep from accidentally destroying a cell with a formula in it.

Right click on the cells that you need to enter data.
Click Format Cells
Click on the Protection tab
Uncheck Locked and click OK
Click on Tools in the menu bar
click protection and select Protect Sheet...
Uncheck Select locked cells - if you don't want them to be selected
Enter a simple password
