Steering locked

Hi folks I picked up a 70 Barracuda as a project car there's no key the nice aluminum area where you would put the key in is gone just just a slotted hole in the middle of the inner part and I just need to be able to push the car and in the position in a shop can I just take a big chisel and smash it in do I drill it out I plan on getting a nice tilt column later on but I have another car project in front of this I just want to be able to move it around in the shop steer it like a human being your thoughts please

Hi larrybuck,
With a steering wheel puller, I believe you can pull the steering wheel, and the locking disk is just under the turn signal cam, oh there might be the clock spring in there too. The disk is held on with a split ring and there is a big spring behind the disk. You can pry out the split ring, but the spring may shoot the disk out at your face, so beware.

Big floor jack under the front end, drag or push it in to position until you have time to deal with the column properly.

Or just remove the column completely, since its probably only being held on by 3 bolts, and manhandle the tires in to position.

:)Hey everybody thank you for your information I went totally old school didn't mess with it it's been about three three and a half hours got it out of the trailer pulled it with a chain with another vehicle to get it out carefully use the lawn tractor to get through the gap over the little hump into the garage used tire dollies floor jack little by little you push on the sides and the floor dollies would just go flying after a little bit of movement start over Push Pull but I finally got it exactly where I wanted it
