Strange SGII Rebranding

Check it out: Fuel Efficiency Centers - Real Time Fuel Measurement and Diagnostic Tools

Kind of odd :turtle:

I only have an SGI. Does the SGII come with "Current Trip Cost" and "Gas Cost So Far Today"? If no, then there's different software in there.

If there is new software, then maybe they contracted the hardware from ScanGuage and rolled their own software, like putting Linux on an x86 PC.

And what about the fuel catalyst?

Interesting...! But most other stuff on the site seems to be snake oil - The fuel catalyst in particular... Or is the re-branded SGII a smoke-screen to fool people in buying the accompanying make-believe stuff??

This looks like a painted SGII with some XGauge stuff already programmed. Having some trip data turned into a gauge may appeal to those who are less prone to reading the instruction book.

The "CTC" and "SFT" are new. I thought the XGauge was for accessing drivetrain-unique data variables. These look like full accumulation/calculation additions. Can you do this with the XGauge?

You can take any stnd gauge or xgauge you created and turn it into a trip gauge in the SGII with xgauge. Anyone can program those as xgauges provided they take the time to read the coding document.

You can also go a lot further than that. On my Elantra, I created trip xgauges for the MAF and equivalence ratio, which allows me to get a more accurate trip MPG value.

Now if only we could create xgauges based on equations combining other basic xgauges, that would be something.

Hi,

The XGauge value that SHOULD be pre-programed (but isn't) is the Average Fuel Economy. Having to do this manually on a gauge that you've paid a fair bit of money for, is unfortunate.

This is a rebranding effort that Linear Logic (SG manufacturer) is involved in, according to Ron DeLong.

He was careful to say that his company is neutral and doesn't either endorse or criticize other products/gadgets that claim to improve fuel economy (like the fuel line catalyst being hawked on that site).
