I just discovered he's been documenting a pretty cool conversion of a Suzuki 125 on his web site, and YouTube:

Frank gets right into it - you even get to see him cast custom pulleys in sand by melting down some aluminum hard drive chassis. Well beyond "quick 'n' dirty" ForkenSwift stuff, but inspiring.

WHY make a sprocket?? Read his explanation; his writing is a hoot.

I have seen this before, but I think it was only the part 2 video that I caught a glimpse of before.

That casting is very cool:thumbup:. It would be neat to try doing that for an adapter plate used on an EV conversion. You would need lots of little scraps of aluminum though.

that diy sprocket has another benefit, it is difficult to find front and rear sprockets with even number of teeth in a ratio that you want, but if you can (and you "phase" your chain) you can improve chain and sprocket wear characteristics, according to the late great Sheldon Brown anyway:
