suzuki 3.52 final drive (for Geo Metro)
am wondering whether it is possible to install a suzuki (5 speed manual) 3.52 final drive transmission in a 1996 geo metro that has a one liter engine. can the components be swapped from case to case ? or would it be more reasonable to use a 3.79 final drive transmission any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks..

Define "more reasonable."
I did the 3.52 swap into my 1.0L 1998 Metro. I just put in the entire transaxle ... the gears are otherwise identical. Project 'nerd gear': taller tranny transplant nets +5.2% MPG - MetroMPG.com |

It was pretty much plug 'n' play for me.
Odo/speedometer is now off, and I wouldn't recommend this to someone who did a lot of driving in a hilly urban setting. (Noticeably more clutch slippage required for a 1st gear start, and general decline in acceleration ability.) For the type of driving I do (mostly highway) it was an effective mod. I even wish for a taller 5th gear still. |

You should be able to swap over the speedometer gear from the old transmission to keep the speedometer and odometer as accurate (or inaccurate) as they are now.

Yeah, I keep forgetting that. In my case, the tire circumference of the donor car was also different, so things would have still been off (but by less).

The only difference is the speedo driven gear, tire size on the donor doesn't matter. I've never checked if the 1995+ cars have yet another driven gear size.
