Tablet Mount via Shelving Bracket

First time posting pics so not sure if doing this right. *crosses fingers*

I used a small metal shelving bracket screwed into the steering column plastic cover. I used two 3/8th self tapping screws. The tip of the shelving bracket along the steering column is bent down so as to tilt the tablet forward just a tad.

This is a picture of the back of the nook tablet. I used two motherboard computer mount screws and two washers per screw. There isn't a lot of space between the plastic and battery. Also, the extra holes are what happens when you try to eyeball something like this. ;) With the washers this lets me just slide it over the bracket and slide it back off.

A completed pic of the tablet mounted in place with the Torque app running.

The screws on the back of the tablet are placed far enough apart to hold the nook just above the steering column. It's fairly sturdily in place but it probably wouldn't take too hard of a tug to strip the screws out of the tablet.

I will later remove the shelving bracket and paint it black just to make it look a little nicer haha.

You might consider gluing a plate to the nook.

I might consider that later on.

This allowed me to do something I could undo with just a couple (six...who's counting) holes that wouldn't matter. Glue strong enough to hold would be a pain to remove if I decided to go a different route. Also, gave me an excuse to remove the back plate off and see what was inside the Nook ^^

How about using sticky-backed Velco™?

That was my first attempt. In 50 degree weather with a little but of sun it literally turns to goop and slides right off. If you look at the second picture, that's all adhesive residue from the velcro strips ^^

Not all sticky back Velcro is the same. My Scangauge has been fastened to the top of my dash for several years with the same Velcro. My truck is parked facing the sun during the day, and has seen outside temperatures over 100 degrees F.

I get my sticky back Velcro from Walmart. It's a little pack containing several pieces about 2 by 3 inches.

Part of my issue with sticky back velcro may also be due to the weight of the Nook Color vs the Scangauge. Think it may be too heavy without enough surface area that I can attach the velcro to and have it compensate accordingly.

Velcro can hold weight quite well. Sticky back can't.

Maybe a couple of slotted holes to mount the nook on screws would do it. You've already got holes and this style would be easier to dismount:

velcro adhesive struggles with my phone on a mildly warm day. I recon it is possible to wash of the adhesive and use gorilla/crazy glue instead though.
