The UG screen dies after a few years. I owned 2 and enjoyed them when I had them, but would not purchase them anymore considering the screen issue, and the fact that there are much more feature rich apps that are free or low cost to use on a spare phone/tablet.

Those screens came with a published lifetime, the replacement stuff not so much if you get the better hardware for higher cost (sometimes doubled or more)

Heresy you say? I think not, since all my vintage stuff still works, even the really old stuff from when people here wore nappies. 12v #6 batteries are hard to buy, but a regulated power supply works fine

I'm at the 45th parallel and garage all my vehicles. Don't know how you managed to keep the heat lower at a lower latitude.

Last week i was in the mood to blow money so i bought a scan guage, rubber wiper refills and a few dash cameras. tried to open the scan guage plastic package and sliced my finger open. ill try to mess around with it more this weekend. thanks for the help. i diddnt feel comfortable having an old smartphone as instrumentation. some of the areas i go for work dont have the best people and i feel they would have to break in and steal it.
