Taurus modder
Hey All,
Dig the site, tons of excellent information. Joined to see how far I can stretch a tank on some basic mods, and beyond! Looking for some tips from other large sedan/Ford Taurus owners on mods specific to our cars. I really need help with my city MPG. Any Taurus owners ever try a kill switch or cylinder deactivation? Thanks for the help, Patrex |
Welcome to EM.
The best way to increase your city mpg would be turning the engine off at red lights if over 8 secs is how i do it. clean the weight out as startin and stoppin with extra weight hurts. |
my experience w/ a taurus several yrs ago were discouraging. It didnt drop the rpms when shifting into neutral to coast.
I always raise the psi to 40+ on my vehicles. I have several threads on my 2002 Infiniti Q45 Sport. But I was a road warrior and my savings came on the road at cruise. I just drove easy in town knowing that it wasnt going to make just a really big difference. Also you need a gauge. see the first ling in my sig. |
I've got an Ultra Gauge installed and really like the immediate feedback I get from it. My car has only 54 of the possible 80 gauges enabled, but that's plenty for me.
Also have a partial lower grill block I'm testing out to make sure I won't have any overheating issues. Your DIY on underbody panels looks like the direction I'm heading in next. My rear bumper looks like it scoops alot of air, I should be able to clean it up a bit. If I can't seal or panel the underbody from the rear wheels back, I may give my rear bumper cover some 'vents' to let the trapped air pass through. Gonna air up to 40psi all around & see what happens. Thanks for the advice- |
