Tax breaks or incentives on EV conversions?

OK, I have the 95 Escort back from the mechanic and $180 later, it's all certified and e-tested. In Ontario Canada, are there any kind of tax incentives on parts used for the electric conversion? Thanks! Ken.

Here is just a few from a quick browse on the web:

From Wikip:
Canada
Residents in Ontario and Quebec, Canada can claim a rebate on the Provincial Retail Sales Tax of up to $2,000 CDN on the purchase or lease of a hybrid electric vehicle.[67] Ontario recently announced a new green license plate for hybrid car users and will announce a slew of benefits that go along with it in 2008.[68] Residents in British Columbia are eligible for a 100% reduction of sales tax up to a maximum of $2,000 if the hybrid electric vehicle is purchased or leased before April 1, 2011 (extended in 2007/2008 budget from March 31, 2008 and expanded from a maximum of only $1,000 from April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009, at which point the concession was scheduled to expire.)[69] Prince Edward Island residents can claim rebates on the Provincial Sales Tax of up to $3,000 CDN on the purchase or lease of any hybrid vehicles since March 30, 2004.[
------

Desjardins 10% discount on insurance of hybrid vehicles - 10% of the cost of vehicle insurance premiums (e.g. $50 for an annual insurance premium of $500)

Hope this helps!

Hybrids yes, but what about pure EV?

Yes, I am aware of the rebates available for a Prius, but what about conversion costs to create an EV from an ICEV? That is where I hit a stumbling block. Other than a (possible) 8% rebate on sales tax for items purchased to do the conversion - and if it's anything like their alternative energy plan, it only happens once, I can't seem to locate any firm information on a pure EV. They are now selling the Tesla Roadster here in Ontario, and I can't even see where there may be a tax break on that car, which I believe should be tax exempt as far as I'm concerned. Ken.

I know of nothing... you COULD create your own business number and "work the numbers" till you pay no tax :) Other than that, maybe you can find a company that is willing to pay you a couple grand to put their logo on your EV.

Electric Vehicles of Washington

Is there any fact on what they are claiming about the 2009 stimulus package?
Any details will be appreciated.

That's interesting. I'd love to see the same thing available in Canada or Ontario specifically.
