teaching the kids about EM

I've been doing a bit of EOC in the minivan and decided to make a game of it with the oldest. I'd start coasting down a hill and ask her when she thought we'd slow down too much. This leads to talking about trying to go further on a gallon of gas.

Made me realize we can teach our kids a lot about saving fuel if we're clever about it and make it interesting to them from a young age. What better way to multiply the EM hordes than through teaching the young?

Yeah, my kids have stopped noticing the "normal" ecodriving I do. Recently, I started doing a little EOC (it's not something I can do very often on my local driving), and they noticed that; for a little while, then they just accept it. They used to notice that I drive more "calmly" than I used to. Now they just expect it.

My daughter Emma, who is nine, flatly states that she will drive an electric car! My son Nicolas, who is twelve, may inherit my xA, but that may be the only gasoline-only car he ever drives...

I'm doing the "teaching the parents about the EM thing". Same idea really but I mostly just time lights and accelerate slower. My mom calls it "playing the stop light game".
