Tesla plaid Cybertruck

Ignoring the flared fenders, is this aerodynamic?

There's a lot of debate over the stock Cybertruck.
IIRC the front diverter adds downforce with minimal added drag, just from the downward pressure of air piling up at the stagnation point. The trapeziodal wheel arches are prolly suboptimal. No Moon disks. That trapezoid of light behind the offside tire suggests suboptimal bellypanning. |
Keep in mind, that's just somebody's silly photochop not any image from Tesla. If the Cybertruck has something beyond the tri motor already announced, that is the question. The tri motor is already the layout for the upcoming other plaid versions of Teslas and the purpose is to do torque vectoring to help cornering. Now if they are going for a Raptor fighter, what they need is long travel suspension with massive shocks that won't boil with long high speed off road running. The problem will be that the 3 motor long range Cybertruck will be a good 1500 pounds heavier and that's a lot of energy to dissipate.
What would be cool (and any talk about Tesla's future products you get to completely make stuff up as you go like rocket assist or underwater mode) is if the shocks were actually electrical generators and you got some energy back with all the wild wheel travel. So a Raptor isn't about being fast on a track or in a straight line, there are other trucks that are better in that area, it's also not about slow, rock crawling type off road travel, the Powerwagon or Commander Rubicon is better, it would be about high speed desert racing style truck. Ram also has a new Hellcat powered 707 hp wide body Rebel truck coming soon. That truck is going to be the new pinnacle in pickup craziness. |

Other than that,we'd need context. |

The packaging, manufacturing facility, energy to manufacture, raw material, energy to get it to the store shelf was probably sourced from happy thoughts and light as well. |

What's the issue? This is an aerodynamics (of vehicles) forum. |
It looks like the basic shape could be pretty aerodynamic, but it's all straight lines. It makes me think Tesla had two things on their mind: (1) "Look, we can make it aerodynamic and angular" and (2) "This will be much easier to stamp." It's very different from the other Teslas, which are very curvy. I doubt Tesla neglected aerodynamics on this plaid version, whatever that is. It looks better than the regular Cybertruck (I didn't compare, so maybe they're very similar), but I don't care for the flared fenders.
* Ehh, it looks the same except for the flares. |
It sounds like aerohead has been drinking Tetrahydrofuran straight from the can. :)
