Tesla's home/small business energy storage batteries

SolarCity just finished doing a full home survey of our house for 'free' solar panels, now only if the HOA will allow us to be the first one on the block with their panels. Gotta read their proposal again because SolarCity's biggest shareholder and partner is Tesla.
Tesla's next big offering will be off-grid capability with their home/small business energy storage batteries. Could our solar panels recover the battery costs - $15 per month for 10 years? Would like to be one of their beta homes, (family member medical purposes) summer AC is essential.

Around here (Tucson, AZ) SolarCity has been a rather pushy "door-to-door", mass mailing "flood-the-market" and almost daily nuisance telemarketing PROBLEM to everybody, except the true "...kool-aid drinkers..."

I for one would love a set of solar panels on my roof......would help offset the 4 1250watt PCs I have running almost 24/7!

We had a door-to-door solar guy come by. When he found out our monthly electric bill was under $50, he just walked away...

As we see the map, it makes sense you get the most aggressive marketing because you have the MOST solar insolation; the most kWh per solar cell installation and most important, the best energy payback. Embrace the Sol. If they offer it for 'free' to borrow your roof, go for it.

Now for that Tesla battery, it gets even better.

You're in the Valley of the Tesla. All the cool kids are doing it.

The next step after the Tesla is the PV roof.

... I've recently discovered that the Model S is the perfect vehicle for me, except for the price. Used ones on CL are still being listed at full retail price! When they hit $10k I'll bite.

Yeah, if we had a plug-in vehicle it might be more worthwhile to go solar... I actually do plan to go that route eventually, but probably not in the current location.

I've been threatening to build a garage for the past several years. The idea of building it with solar roof panels as part of the design is really revving up my thought processes. Unfortunately I am not in one of the hotspots for solar energy efficiency, and I live in the woods too. So if I do it I will more than likely end up financing it myself rather than having a 'partner'. Ah well.

Do you really need a 4,500 lb car? If you haul around 6 people, then burning gasoline to do it is not a bad use of fossil fuel. If you drive solo, like 70% of all car use, then you would have a 'electron guzzler', or 'gross e-polluter' car.
