Tesla's vanilla, Faraday Future's habanero

The secretive Chinese electric startup, Faraday Future's electric car was Twitter-leaked before its CES unveiling. The reveal presumes that their design aesthetic is going to be dope extreme, to mildly explain it. Faraday Future and their future production models have been poised to be aggressive rivals to Tesla's EV model offerings. The Tesla Model X and Model S 85D reach 0-60 in 3.2 secs and 4.2, respectively, and top speeds of 140-150 mph. The Faraday Future concept model claims 1000 hp and capable of 200 mph top speed. They also have an autonomous mode and modular quick-change 'string batteries?' The glass-canopied tandem-seating 'batmobile' concept has active aerodynamic spoilers and tail fin (CES show concept 'bling fin' will have a digital display) to assist in aero efficiency, braking and turning!

The company is generating social media hype with their teaser concepts as well as their aggressive Chinese billionaires' & investors' funding and plans for a $1 billion-dollar manufacturing factory campus in North Las Vegas, Nevada. $335 million state incentives approved and production cars by 2017?!

Definitely NOT a small time startup.

Cool concept

1000 hp seems a bit excessive

production by 2017 is .. INSANE ..

Let's see what comes out the other end of the production line!

i haven't heard of it or read anything about it (including the link) but i would be very skeptical. Elon Musk has put massive amounts of money at Tesla to make it work, and even as of now they're on the edge of making it or breaking it.

Partnering somehow to help drive down the cost of parts (batteries, controllers, motors, etc.) would be the best thing.

Oh yes I NEED one of those!!! Not.

Right?! Shows us how much the brave new future will be like the present. I forsee electric supercar fail videos.

.

Reminds me of a electric slot car I played with when I was young.

I'm pretty sure several laps at Lime Rock Park would put a big smile on my face.

;)

Eh. I'm from Missouri.

So, Faraday Future designed a logo that looks like several others, and they designed a skateboard that looks like all the others, and they know how to produce a rendering, and they can 3D print a car-shaped object ...

A single seat "race car" with a clear bubble - who the heck would buy that?

Batman, when he's had enough of his sidekick.
"Holy no passenger seat Batman!"
"Run, Robin, run!"

(Subbed :))

Me? Not the clear bubble - I think whoever designed that has never been in the western US in the summer - and maybe 100 hp instead of 1000, but yes, I certainly would consider buying a single-seat vehicle. Especially if it's reasonably low to the ground with comfortable semi-reclining seats, instead of the way up in the air, bolt-upright seating of most cars today.

Reminds me of what gm was doing with their fuel cell concepts.

...reminds me of the old GM "skate-board" chassis of years ago.

Christopher Jordan 02-24-2016 08:43 PM

Found the link to this FF in an Elio ad. Yes "skateboard" frame; but Chinese people have built entire towns in month that nobody moved into. I am not a bit surprise about this vehicle springing up quickly.

All through 2000 to 2010 beginning with Zap China was very much into EVs, and learned how not to do it. Maybe they improved.
