What has progressed in 14 years since it's introduction? Plenty of predictions of vast increases in range. What surprized me was how good it actually was in 1999. It would suit my wifes and my own commuting needs and the inductive charging is an added bonus.

While the price seems high, for such a limited production that is to be expected. It would be contemporary today and it also must have been crashworthy enough to pass US standards. Kind of reminds me of a two seater version of Ben's Mitsubishi.

14 years? Maybe that says the battery technology has peaked and the issue is with wind or rolling resistance?

Electric vehicles have been around for almost 100 years. They made them back in the day with reusable lead acid batteries as they didnt require warm up like todays cars. I think Jay Leno has one called the Baker Electric Truck.

Toyota made an electric RAV4 back in the 90s and GM had the EV1.

Its my experience many of the new vehicles brought to market are limited to residents in a few states, prehaps with the worse economies and at that for lease, not ownership. Unless you run a business a lease, at least most of them are not in your favor unless you want an EV to drive. :eek:

They keep promising us a battery breakthrough - for 20 years now. Somehow I don't think it is going to happen. Batteries are getting better, but only incrementally better. The getting cheaper part is the key for the EV's success, but at current battery prices it just isn't worth it.

A BEV will only ever be a second vehicle for most people, despite what Tesla is trying to prove (and don't get me wrong - I pine for a Model S is the worst way possible!!), but who wants to spend $35K on a second vehicle?

I think its just the law of physics that we are over looking.

Most of the over unity stuff draws energy from a magic vortex, vasuum, the air, radio wave, earths van-allen belts, etc.

Me, I feel there is a way to use a stick of radio active material that emits energy and there s a coil or soemthing we can wrap t in and collect that energy.

If I remember correctly, it was first presented in the '97 Tokyo Auto Show.
