Nobody understands the point of hybrid cars

TLDR; Atkinson cycle sucks, so the electric subsystem is to fill in the gap. Said electric subsystem is recharged mainly through regen, avoiding repeated energy conversion. The planetary gear set is diagrammed at ?t=2238.

Things I didn't know about hybrids:

They make cars more expensive so you can have a bigger car that gets as good of fuel mileage as a smaller, cheaper car. And people like big cars, so your options are now a giant Corolla or a scooter without much in between.

I don't know. I haven't seen any strong crosswind to evaluate, but I's speculate that the doorless versions are 'porous' to crosswinds compared with half doors and side curtains.
