Thanks for sharing the Ford Ecodriving "initiative". I found the list to be very common sense and not demanding anything extraordinary from the average motorist.

The manufacturers have had this knowledge for many decades and I fault them for not being more proactive in trying to educate the customer. At a minimum, this information should have been standard- no, prominently featured- in Operator's Handbooks; it also should have been in dealer pamphlets, salesmen should all be trained in it, and whatever other avenues the manufacturers have at their disposal for communications should have been tapped into as well. Oh well, as long as we see more of this in the future? BTW, I hope today's driver's training at least includes the 10 steps. Back when I went through it NOTHING was said about maintenance or economical driving at all.

I'm not all that much of a cheerleader for one brand- I've had plenty of imports and domestics and they all have their pros and cons. At this point in time, though, my fleet has more Fords than anything else and I'm quite satisified with them.

Today Ford is alone amongst the domestics in getting it's house in order without begging the government for help.

Between those two things, I wish Ford the best. GM and especially Chrysler can wallow in the filth they've created as far as I'm concerned.
