Tire Care Product That is Good For Tire
Hello -
I have heard that the "tire shine" products are bad for the tread compound of tires. Is there one that is good for tires? Thanks, CarloSW2 |
I use Armor All Tire Foam. It's only put on the sidewall, so there should be minimal effect on the tread (the spray is pretty easy to control).
The can says that it helps protect the sidewall against cracking, but I can't really speak much on that as our cars are driven enough that the tire is bald long before any signs of cracking appear. |
...in the military (USN), we just used hydraulic fluid when we had to "spit-shine" our vehicles for material inspections!
...and, I never saw any tires falling off our jeeps or 4-bys. |

Ha ha, thanks. I was thinking in the the back of my mind that UV damage leads to cracking (right?!?!?!), so maybe I should use sunblock! CarloSW2 |
...what do I need, SPF 50 for blackwalls or whitewalls?

I read the thread and is seems like the water-based milky-white is winning the argument. Maybe I'll get a jug of the 303 stuff. It has "Aerospace" in the name, so it must work, right?!?!?!? If I was nutso-hard-core I would have full UV-reflecting wheel covers that I put on in the parking-lot. Me not that nutso. CarloSW2 |
I use Meguiers Tire shine on both my Daily driver Kuhmo's and my Fusion ZR1 Street Race tires and that gets the full treatment side walls and treat compound being a show car you want to see the tread look as best as possible I've had the tires for 3years and never had a problem and the car is stored outside.
