Tps lod not always constant
 

1998 honda civic hx

For a while I was able to get A lod of 57 while at 17 tps in 5 gear. However, now it seems that I'm only able to get the lod at 60 or 61. Nothing has changed. I haven't done anything to the car. Thanks

based off of raw numbers with no scale, sounds like manifold pressure in kPa?

There is a reason why TPS and LOD are different numbers. A given TPS will not always give you the same engine load. There are way too many variables including rpm, air temperature, humidity and more.

Come to think of that, I remember looking at the air filter to see if it was clean. Do you recommend k&n air filter for reduced lod?

When it gives me lighter lods I'll have to see what else is going in then

k&n air filters don't filter air very well.

Keep the stock filter for best MPG. K&N filters may benefit high performance enthusiasts, but not any real benefit if max MPG is the goal.

Surprisingly a dirty filter has no affect on fuel economy with EFI engines, as the computer will adjust A/F mixture accordingly. It does make a difference on carbureted engines though.

Yep, the K&N won't catch finer particles as well as a stock filter. Avoid K&N if you want the engine to last a L-O-N-G time.
