Two fans

I was sizing up some grill blocks on the Frontier and noticed there's a second fan on the front of the AC radiator. I realize now that this probably standard issue, but I was wondering how much air it would shove through the main coolant radiator. I know I could get by without the belt driven fan in the winter, but would I be able to wire this fan to a manual switch and run all year on just it? Obviously it wouldn't be able to cope with an engine idling for several minutes while stopped at stop lights repeatedly, but moderate pulse and glide should significantly reduce the sub 25mph operation where a fan is required anyway. Am I missing something? Should I not count on this fan for anything other than AC?

Let me get this straight....

You block off the radiator to restrict flow through it and then you want to expend energy to restore the flow?

I know it sounds crazy, but it's only in case the engine starts to overheat. Even if the fan is moving 150-160 degree F air over the 220 degree F+ radiator it should help. I only want it in the rare occasion that I have to run the engine at slow speeds when it's already warmed.

How big is it? And how much air does it move? Unbolt your mechanical fan, and just idle it in your driveway and see how well it does. Then run with it if it works out
