Two really stuipid questions (really)
 

Hello there! I have two simple questions, I looked but haven't been able to get a clear answer on either.

1) At what stage is the mbguino? Is it complete? In other words, if I buy one (preassembled, since nobody sells the kits apparently) and assuming that I calibrate it correctly, it should function and give accurate readings?

2) I am a noob to cars, but not to electronics. Are all modern cars fuel-injected? If I have a 2000 impreza, can I assume that it is fuel injected?

Your best bet would be to buy a Scan Gauge II. Just plug it into the OBD II port and go though a short programming process and you are ready to go.

Your car is fuel injected.

No i think i'll get an mpguino, my obd2 port is already connected to my carputer. Plus i don't have 200 bucks to shell out on this.

There are a couple different methods that car manufacturers use to generate the VSS signal and injector pulses needed for the MPGuino to work right. For most cars, it works fine with no modifications necessary, but there are a few that need extra stuff to make it work. There's several threads in this forum about that. Once it's properly calibrated, yes, it should give accurate readings.

Your Subaru should be okay, it looks like people have installed it in '94, '98, and '05 Subarus, so it should work fine in yours as well.

If you're up for it, you can still make your own. There are schematics in this forum for building if off of an Arduino or iDuino, all the other parts are common electronic parts. The kit put it all on a nice PCB for you.

I would love to build my own, it's been a while since Ive gotten down and dirty with schematics. But unfortunately I don't have the time at the moment to go hunting around for the different components, if I could get them all at one place I would probably do that, but since the kit isn't available I guess I'll buy it preassembled. I am buying an AVR controller from adafruit, so if I need to change the code (or if you guys make a change) I can always change it.

I have a kit that you can have for postage the to send it.
My kids bought it for me 2 Christmas' ago.
I have not made the time to assemble it, it is still in the little box they wrapped for me. The Arduino will need to be programmed.
All the instructions are online. This just has the parts. Arduino included with resistors, etc.
Send me and email and it is yours.
