ugly cars that gross you the worst!
Everybody will have a different one. Popularity wise.....we can go down the typical lists:
Pacers Azteks (Pontiac) Edsels? Gremlins Datsun F10 And I mean pretty much stock; not like a gothic car, or that look. This should be fun!!! For me, its this '49 Plymouth. Sure its a famous drag car w a 10 year newer hemi in it, but the basic body look of any Mopar close to this time period just makes me want to lose my last previous meal. This is mine....what's yours....... Those gross header pipes sticking out every which way....yuck!!!!!http://ecomodder.com/forum/member-la...996-images.jpg |
Scion's box cars. You know the ones I mean. Every time I see one of those on the road I wonder how someone could drive that!
|
Hummer H2 and H3, especially H3. No visibility, no practicality, no off-road ability. And UGLY!
|
Something I always hate to see are trucks (especially classic trucks) that have gaudy low profile wheels/tires and lower them down to the ground. Thats not a truck. Why did you buy a truck when you really want a car/elcamino/ranchero?
|
I know it's been said, but:
Pontiac Aztek /end thread. lol :snail: |

Old Dodge trucks. I understand the appeal of Cummins, but can't stand the look.
http://www.autogush.com/images/dodge...up-1991-02.jpg Nissan Juke. It's like a mini-me Aztek, minus all the practicality. http://blog.roadandtrack.com/wp-cont...ke-440x330.jpg Mazda LOL cars. http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...GRWoEVTjIKll0Q |
True on the Juke, my wife finds them cute ... I can't even look at them without getting pissed at the designers (whoever they are!)

Ugly cars ?
Toyota Prius - any year , late model Geo Metro , Honda CIvics - ( especially the '93 hunchback " egg cars " ) , first and second generation Insights, Ford " escorts " and Focus , etc etc . * * no, not really, but I think that single sentence encompasses most cars here eh :) |
i agree with every vehicle post except the dodge truck I love the look of the boxy ford, Chevy, dodge trucks , but not for mileage for offroad/pulling usage.
Lets not forget the 1998 ford escort 4 (i hope Cd means the 4doors as well i like the 2 door looks |

I'm seeing some cars mentioned that some of our members drive . |
Here's the one I hate the most. As soon as I see it I can feel my blood pressure rising.

I hate cube cars (Kia Soul, Scion xB, Nissan Cube, etc...), and when a girl I know bought a Kia Soul I didn't change my opinion or voiced it differently, she knew I didn't like it before she bought one and she hear me say it again AFTER she bought it, doesn't mean I respect her less or anything. She likes it and that's what counts! |

In all honesty, I think a lot of economy cars are ' ugly ' because the manufacturers try to target them to young women ( macho men buy pickups right ? )
They style them to look like cartoon cars with ungainly proportions : tiny wheels and huge tall windows . They then raise the car which draws even more attention to the small wheels which look like spindly legs. A good example being the first generation Prius, the Echo, late geo metros etc. And speaking of the Prius, I still have never found that car attractive. Am I the only one that sees it as too BOXY ? ( the second generation ) Yes ! That's right - boxy. From the side the profile is ok around the windshield to hood , but from the front ? Boxy ! I would speculate that Toyota designed the fist generation Prius to appeal to women, then were surprised to see that men were buying the car too. These men probably fit the stereotype of new adapters that like to be seen, so Toyota designed the 2nd to look totally different from most any car on the road - making it intentionally ' odd' to stand out ( much like the Nissan " Cube " of today ) With sales of the 2nd generation so great, Toyota was surprised . The demographic had changed and now ' average ' people were buying the car - so Toyota started working to ' de ugly ' the car for the 3rd generation. That's my speculation. |
One car that really turns my stomach is the new Camaro.
I had a '69 Camaro, and this new one looks like it was inspired by my old car, but had a committee each throw in something to the cars design. The car is a design flop I'm my opinion. The new Challenger on the other hand is almost perfect if it wasn't for the stretched door height . The new Mustang ? .....that is a beautiful car. |

If you don't like 'em, that's cool - you don't have to make up reasons out of thin air. I'm indifferent to their looks though I think it's kinda depressing they've become the de-facto poster child for last decade's excess and really only made up the dust on the surface of that regrettable combination of circumstances. As for cars I find ugly... Chevy SSR is pretty ghastly and what a ridiculous exercise it was? "hey let's make the fastest car we can make that's technically still a truck, on paper" ... yay arbitrary limitations that serve only to handicap the result! http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-20...k-1280x960.jpg it's like a Beetle, a PT Cruiser and a Maloo got jiggy one night and somehow made a 3-way abomination love child. Hey Chevy, you already have a fast 2-seater and it's already better in literally every way. Stick with that. I thought the Honda Element was a mish-mash of shapes that overpromised and underdelivered. Maybe that's what people disliked about the Aztek, I dunno... Fourth generation Mustangs look fat to me. Like a sports car that's been hittin' the dingdongs and nutty buddies pretty hard in the off season. No thanks. Effing Rolls Royce Phantoms these days.... got these big bold share lines like "This Is Elegance In Physical Form" or whatever right? And then these abortions as headlights. Ew. |
Sorry, the Aztek is not just ugly, it's fugly. Might be utilitarian and well designed, but it stands out of the crowd with it's ugliness. There are a huge number of cars that do absolutely nothing for me but they also don't stand out with their ugliness the same way the Aztek does. This one is a two-kegger, no doubt! I'm OK if someone else likes the look (or can stand the look, as the case may be), but I definitely do not.
Another one is the Smart ForTwo. I get that the point of the car is to be shorter than most anything else on the road, but the proportions are all wrong. |

Cars that I fing ugly... let say : All Hummers, Old and new Fiat 500, VW Beetle old & new, Smart Fortwo, all MINI, All Pickups & SUV. |
Quote:
http://www.automedia.com/new_cars/do...kota-ext-1.jpg Okay, it's actually a Dakota, but it's about as fugly as an Aztek. While I was in Europe, I saw waaaaay too many of these things. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...lver_front.JPG the Fiat Multipla! |
Anything from the now long gone "American motors". Amazed me how many ugly cars they sold year after year.
|
+1 on the Aztek, or as some people call it the @$$crack. It's "uckin' fugly". :barf:
Same for theNissan Murano, or as I call it, "Manuro" , because it's uglier than $#!+. :p Nissan Juke? EEEEWWWWW! :barf: Dodge Caliber? What caliber is that? .22 short? :barf: New Dodge Charger? Looks like a 4-door Chevelle and a Mustang had a "carnal liaison". :p Dodge Magnum.... NICE HEARSE!! :p Scion xB, Nissan Cube, Kia Soul (other than those owned by ecomodders); Nice Toaster! :D I agree with Cd - the new Mustangs are sharp looking cars. And if you use some mild hypermiling techniques, you can get some fairly decent fuel economy from them. |

I like the new Mustang, Camaro and the Challenger, all well done remakes of 70s classics
The Aztek though holy cow what a fail! id never seen one before and now i wish i didnt google it! Most 90s midsized American cars make me wanna puke, the proportions are just all wrong new subaru forester? not sure what model it is but ive seen a few around and they are terrible: http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/...u2_980675c.jpg nissan micra, any of the new "luxury crossover SUV's" aka Porsche Cayenne, BMW X7, or Audi Q7... lets face it they are never gonna see a dirt road, you just look like a wanker with too much money taking your kids to school, especially when the woman driving can barely see over the steering wheel! il extend that to the non luxury versions too, like the Nissan Murano, and of course the Hummer, esp. H3, they only thing H1 and H2 had going for them was a big tough military feel, the H3 is none of these things Ford KA... WTF WERE THEY THINKING? and it just gets worst when you step inside, the interior looks like it was designed by a telly tubby in a bubble factory... yuk! |

Seems like a lot of people are calling some of the cars ugly because their functionality (or lack thereof)... That's one thing that doesn't compute for me... seems like a car can be good looking without having any functional benefits while a car with excellent functional benefits can be quite ugly looking... |

BTW, I love the look of the first generation Insight, though the proportions do make the car look " fat " . The Mazda MX-3 is roughly the same size and shape, yet looks sleek . Im an odd one I guess . I remember when the Aztec came out and I caught a glimpse of the thing on a car carrier parked in a parking lot. I went up to it and stared for several minute. At the time this was an exciting vehicle to aero freaks like me. SUVs all looked like bricks and this thing gave hope that designs would become more aerodynamic. I wouldn't own one, but I don't think its any uglier than some vehicles today. |

Aw, heck, if we're going to post pictures of fuglymobiles from the 1960s, how about from the 1950s?
I present to you... The Ford Edsel! The mobile toilet seat! http://www.edsel.net/eds58.JPG |

when i was talking about the crossover SUVs in my post though i meant that they are ugly AND lack functionality (at least for the typical people that use them), having a car like that and only using it for taking the kids to school and getting coffee in town is bad enough, but then they look ugly too! |

The Challenger kills me. Although the design looks good, it is like being next to a 40-50s Caddy! A two door that is just massive. And how does one make a car like that but not offer a standard? It's clear the market it is aimed for. Although I am totally disappointed by quality, interior, and reliability by chrysler, the Viper, Durango 1998-2002, 67 to 69 Charger, Chief Cherokee, SRT Magnums, SRT Chargers, and SRT Rams are still decent to me. I notice with the Camaro and Challenger, there is zero visibility. It's like a submarine. I like the Aztec! But only after I got in one, and found how fantastic they are utility wise. I dislike the new KIAs. Wanna be gangsters are flooding the streets with kias on rims, and I wonder how the transition from Escalade/Rover occurred. Also how they advertise them for cheap, but when you read the fine print, a decent Sorento costs 40k+. Solely on looks, I'd have to say the Ridgeline by Honda. A half exhuast attempt at a truck. +1 on the 90s S10s 1 inch from the ground, with a bumper sticker saying "no fat chicks, will scrape." Clearly they have grown up from hanging out at the mall all day, as they can't make it over speed bumps. And clearly they all have enough money for custom insurance, and secondary vehicles for winter. Especially since a samd bag or two will make them scrape. |
I have a few with pet names: Nissan Joke, Nissan Morono, Dodge Cram, Dodge Magnumb...
Not stock but most of the time when someone drops a new stepside box behind a classic pickup cab I think the result sux. |
Ok, for me its pickups, minivans and SUVs. Moreoften than notn these types of vehicles are driven by people for whom driving is very much an unmastered skill....and they think they own the road. Granted, not all are like that, but those 3 classes of vehicle cause more trouble for me as a motorcyclist than any other.
|
Not knocking the Geo, but as was previously mentioned by others; why does this, and even more obvious in some other FACTORY cars; to my eye have the rearend up as if its a grasshopper or something! Bad for CD, and handling I would think!http://ecomodder.com/forum/member-la...010-images.jpg

First time I saw a Prius I thought "that is as ugly as an Aztek."
On the other hand I find the 1st gen insights to be very good looking any box or cube Honda element, Nissan bleh. Then there is the Smart (shart) car oops just threw up in my mouth a bit. |

Hasn't anyone mentioned Subaru Baja?
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...SubaruBaja.jpg Hopefully I'll offend someone, like all the other posts. :p Part of me wants to like the Aztek - but what amazes me is that Pontiac could look so much like a Prius wannabe and still be infinitely uglier and not have gas mileage worth a darn. |

Every time I see one of these I think of pregnant guppies or whales or something. |
