Underbelly clean up Phase II

I added a rear underbelly tray to my car yesterday. The blue area is the new part. It tucks up under my previous partial rear tray and covers a lot of area that was previously a mess. I will get a better photo of it up tomorrow.

Due to camera lens distortion the blue area looks smaller than it really is. I will eventually paint if black once I get it the way I want it.

Tomorrow I am going to make some more underbody trays to clean up some of the smaller areas. I am also going to install some wind deflectors in front of the wheels.

The goal is 50 mpg. Each small tweak should get me closer if I do it properly. I also want to eventually be able to run a 500 mile tank of fuel. My front belly pan project was well worth while and I should have started these additions a lot sooner.

I want my car to look stock so I'm keeping the rear wing. My yarn testing showed that it is actually functional. It provides downforce and a consistent edge for air to cleanly separate from the back of the car. I don't think that it is hurting my mileage much anyway since it is mostly a level surface.

Has anyone come up with a way to blend the seems around 80s style window trim and rain gutters? It is not practical for me to remove them. I will post a photo of the top of my A-pillar where it needs to be cleaned up. If you have any ideas let me know.

Good work. Re: the window trim and rain gutters, i have no idea how to clean up that. Whatever it is, it'll have to be super tidy to not look silly. Best of luck!

Phase III has begun as well. There are a lot of small areas to fill under the car still.

These are the wind deflectors that I have added in front of my rear wheels. They are modeled after the new Honda Civic's. I now have them at all 4 corners.
