Undisquised Hyundai Ioniq

As I exited the freeway to go home, pulled next to a newer looking Hyundai with Michigan manufacturer plates. It didn't have any model names and it was unique looking. Googled the pic and later identified it as a Prius and Leaf competitor, the 2017 Hyundai Ioniq. It could have three different powertrains, an EV, plug-in hybrid and hybrid. Nice looking compact sedan.

That's purty. :D

Fortunate to see many disguised mules and undisguised Hyundai & Kia models driving around my neighborhood streets and local freeways. Hyundai Kia America Technical Center is located in our city. If I see them, I'll share them.

That looks like the Prius could have.

Fully Charged drives the Hyundai IONIQ Electric:

Pretty good looking car. I like that it's a hatchback, too many sedans driving around these days. 140 mile range for the EV is good, but seems a little low for something just coming out with 200+ mile options like the Bolt close on the horizon.

Look at the rear view shot here: Review: the Hyundai Ioniq in hybrid and electric form | Top Gear Trunk. Boo. |
That 140 miles ... British miles... so more like what 110 miles USA? 120?
|
About 169km.

It's a hatchback:
http://autoguide.com.vsassets.com/bl...ai-Ioniq-8.jpg Yes, the EPA rating is 110 miles, so roughly 10% better than the 30kWh Leaf. |
Good energy info on the screen breaks down the consumption to show climate control and electronics separately. Clean aero and coasts well. I wonder if it is a Perm magnet motor or induction?

I was hoping for the plug in hybrid first :(
