Unknown car device. Computer ?
 

Hi guys. On my Toyota Paseo 1996 year I have a device, who works incorrect. But I don`t know, what is that ? I trying to found answer on another forums but without results. Some pictures (I can`t post links as newbee, post links from imgur image hosting without starts):

All as I can identify - it is LED display. Ligitek: LFD4162V-20.
These boxes haven`t any text aboard.
It connects with 4 wires with car, but I can`t found wires ends.
When pressing buttons device is beep-beep, but display is broken I hope - it is shows only some segments.
Previously owner of car ask, that is it car computer.
2 electro services ask me, taht device is ok, and problem is deeper - in car...
Maybe anyone can help me ? Thanks in advance

I don't get it, you wrote that it doesn't work, but you didn't write what should it do. Do you know what should it do? I got an idea - you could check with an oscilloscope what type of signals are supplied to this device, if we for example noticed something resembling signal from engine RPM sensor we could try to draw some conclusions. Do you have acces to an oscilloscope?
