Are oil prices political?

1989 firebird mostly stock. Aside from the 6-speed manual trans, corvette gen 5 front brakes, 1LE drive shaft, 4th Gen disc brake fbody rear end.
2011 leaf SL, white, portable 240v CHAdeMO, trailer hitch, new batt as of 2014.

Blanket bans aren't ideal, but if the alternative to the status quo is 10 or 20% fewer posts (or whatever percentage includes threads with the current level of partisan sniping), we're OK with that.

I will say that half the reason I'm on here these days is the challenge aerohead presents to my assumptions. Ideas need constant calibration.
