Spirit of DC: guy touring country in PHEV Prius

Has everyone heard about this project?

Spirit of DC - PHEV3A

There is a guy currently touring the country in a plug-in Prius, to promote electric and alternative vehicles.

I just got a call from a Madison, WI EV-er who said he would be in Madison tonight.

I am waiting for the call back, but I expect to go out and meet this guy tonight!

I and some of my Madison, Wisconsin area EV Buddies got to meet J."EV Jerry" Asher of the Spirit of DC PHEV which he is driving "all across America" to promote electric vehicles.

We had an informal electric car club meeting by getting beer and pizza while chatting with Jerry at the "Ale Asylum".

Once pizza was finished, we quickly spilled into the streets, er, parking lot to check out his Prius, which is converted to have a secondary battery pack and charger, and thus is an electric car.

I was surprised to see that the additional battery pack is little more than a whole bunch of 22 AH SLA batteries. That's right, good ole lead-acid!

What is pretty neat is how the software integrates into the Prius and allows both battery packs to talk to each other and all the data you can pull up on battery voltage, state of charge, etc.

Keep up the good work Jerry!

PS:
Hey SVOBoy, He has a beaded seat cover!

This guy came to the end of the electric vehicle meeting today. I didn't get to stay until the end though.
