Vacuum Gauge plumbing

Hey guys, I've just received my TIM Vacuum Gauge and I'm looking at where to plumb it on my 1998 corsa 1.4 16v automatic.

I found the hose going from my manifold to the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor and this is the perfect tube for tapping into (size and location) but would plumbing my T-peice into here cause any problems with the MAP sensor? and would I get an accurate reading from here?

The only other alternative is the other vacuum pipe which has the EGR valve connected to it, and I'd rather not plumb on there because of the much the EGR kicks around.

Thanks :)

Either location would be fine. It won't mess anything up.

BTW, welcome to the site.

Thank you for the welcome! I thought it'd be the best vacuum line to Tee into, but I was unsure, not played with vacuum on the engine before, but everything else I have!

Looking forward to getting some better mileage out of my corsa, its a shame I had to sell my 2.0 HDi peugeot, I could get 62mpg on a good run with that. the corsa cant come close! :)

expirement with different areas on the intake manifold to see if any offer a greater reading of vacuum compared to others. this is often the case, praticularely vacuum ports on or near the throttle body typically show lower vaccum. some of them are purposely made that way. my car has one such fitting.

if you do find that some fittings on the intake show greater or lesser vacuum readings, then chose the one which shows the greatest amount of vacuum on the gauge. usually just having the car idling is sifficent to test the different intake manifold vacuum fittings.
