Various Plastics - Research Thread
Lots of information and familiarity in the forum on Coroplast (brand name for corrugated polypropylene often called "sign board") and ABS plastic. However I've stumbled across something which may expand our bag of tricks a little.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-J...2012%2B241.JPG That is an awful lot of support behind that plastic sheet material. Maybe more work than it's worth? Another product line from Quadrant which caught my attention is below. Lightweight construction components (LWRT) SymaLITE, 3D molding, low pressure pressing, construction, undershields, corrosion resistant, wear resistant, covers, noise absorption, protection, thermoforming, one-step molding, high resistance, part integration, handling - Quadrant Quote:

Not sure, as I've never done a belly pan. The HDPE plastic (High-density polyethylene) chin spoiler I put on my truck, only lasted 3-years (now held together with foil tape). Mostly because people kept backing up into it, but also major UV fatigue and brittleness is evident. http://www.mastermark.com/product_de...ct_group_id=56 http://www.mastermark.com/images/product/56.jpg Quote:

Found some new information, something called Kydex.

I saw that material when I found my ABS sheets. Mine were $32.08 shipped. I hardly know anything about ABS, but absolutely nothing about Kydex. It does sound interesting, though.
This is what I ordered: Amazon.com: 24"x48"x1/16" ABS PLASTIC SHEET CUSTOM STEREO TEXTURED FRONT SMOOTH BACK: Office Products |
I think the ridgidity of ACM would be awesome on belly pans and it can be rolled bent etc quite easy.
