A Google search for recumbent trike info brought this thread up... nice video coverage. The things look pretty goofy, but it's gotta be more comfy than a seat point up the backside on hard/bumpy surfaces.

I'm actually looking for basic build plans that I can include a small weedwhacker or chainsaw engine and a freewheel hub in the crankshaft, so I can register it as a moped and make it road legal.

That thing reminds me of a racing wheelchair, the kind you might see at the Special Olympics. Quite neat, actually, but takes up the whole width of the bike lane.

I've almost convinced myself that my next bike is going to be a recumbent trike.

I used to mow the yard of a guy who, among other things, made racing wheelchairs for a living.

It makes you wonder, with that kind of income, how he could afford to have a kid come mow his yard. Well, I worked cheap, and he let me take his tadpole trike out for rides.

I took it to school one day. My Mech Drawing teacher took it for a spin. Then he broke his foot with it. Don't put your feet down! The brakes work!

Ah, good times.

I got a "junk" tractor from a friend... (lawn mower tractor) and it has foot rests on it. I'm going to put them on mine, so that I have a place to put my feet if I don't want them up that high... just an insurance policy, in case my feet come off the pedals while the motor is running or something.

It took 2 years between replies? LOL! Talk about yesterdays news! 9 pages of velomobiles- Flickr: The velomobiles Pool including my Pod 2003 to 2005, photos of when then the Pod was put in service 2005 to today (most Pod photos here on EM) and the Green Machine in 2007 or 2008. Pod became E-Pod in 2007: E for Electric; both have motors, both began as plain old recumbent trikes.
Photo 1- Dragon (2001 Terratrike) with a Currie motor- model discontinued/ trike now gone.
Photo 2 Pod in Las Vegas Interbike in 2004 one month before I bought it; the end of 2004 it was re-born with a fully enclosed fairing, hard shell seat, motor- January 2005 was the "christening". Ridden last- today.
