Vortex generators
Interisting paper on this from Mitsubishi:
http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com/cor...004/16E_03.pdf Anyone ever tryed Airtab's on smaller cars? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f80a9jssUFU |
Wow, it's been like a year...almost to the day.
Check this out. http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...tors-6806.html Any questions still? |
Thanks for the link. Can see that the subject has allready been covered fairly good.
Don't think I'm going to spend any money on those :) |
A lot of subjects have been thoroughly covered here. Probably most subjects you can think of. You can find a lot of info using the search box.

And then there is the Ring Vortex Generator:
Fully portable... 100% effective... No A-BB-A testing required for verification. :p Ring Vortex |
LMAO... I used to do that (on a much smaller scale) with old cigarette packs.
That's an awesome experiment. I'm going to have to remember that and show it to my Son when he's older. *Saved* |
Christ,
Here's the Big Bad Wolf of ring vortex generators: I'll Huff, and I'll Puff... FWIW, you can get a smoke/fog generator at a guitar/rock band/theatrical supply house. Something about 350-500 watst will do; ~$40, plus "smoke" liquid and cleaner fluid. |
Nice.

I have delta shaped VGs on my car, although they're actually more effective at reducing lift than drag. According to Mitsubishi's research, drag was reduced 4 points and rear lift by 13.
According to this article, vortex generators can reduce drag up to 12% and rear lift by up to 104% using a bluff body application. Awesome video by the way. |
ive been doing a ton of research on Fluid Dynamics of Automobiles and ran across a ton of info about vortex generators......here are a few sites I use.....
after I reach my stupid 5 post quote........ |
I can' wait to see them.
Just post them in a form like this: http//Blahblahblah-dot-com and we can do a qiuck copy/paste/correct. After you get to five posts, go back and edit out the -dot-. |
post number 2

post number 4....almost there so I can post links...
|
number 5 !!!!!!!!!!
|
here are a few links to what I have found...... i have a ton more but these are the better ones..... it would help to research Bernoulli’s principle, Reynolds numbers, Laminar flow and Fluid Dynamics as well.....

Thanks for the info from people who want to sell us vortex generators. Glad they work for you. I think you will find a wide, deep, and fast moving river of skepicism on this web site regarding these devices. It is widely known that on certain shaped autos, these may do a bit of good. They are certainly not a aerodynamic fix all for all vehicles. If you wanna play trout and swim upstream in this river, good luck.

Used Airtabs on our car (had a partial sponsorship from them a few years ago), watched air flow (water) as we raced this past weekend.....did not seem to do what I was hoping. ...wanted to keep airflow tight to interact with rear spoiler for downforce. Need further testing.
