VSS help
 

Hey guys, been following this project for a while and i'm now at the stage to hook the whole thing up to my car.

The only problem that remains is finding the right sensor inputs -

My car is a 2001 toyota corolla ascent.

Now i've not been able to get any wiring diagrams for the 2001 corolla, only the 2004 and 1998 and from what I can gather the vss lead is a purple/white wire. I was able only to find a single purple wire attached (no white stripe). Would anyone know if this is correct or some method of confirming the vss?

The injector lead, there doesn't seem to be any continuity so i'm clueless on this one.

A volt meter hooked up to it and drive slowly. If it gives voltage, none, voltage, none... and the frequincy varies with speed you have it. I would be careful taping wires you are not sure about though. One other thing you could try is finding the VSS itself and checking continuity between the one you have found and and the connector on the vss.

For both of these you should be able to tap directly to the wires on the VSS and an injector.

Just out of curiosity, I was able to find a wiring diagram for my car and one connection to the ecu was 'spd'. I couldn't find VSS written anywhere, now are they the one and the same? Or is spd maybe conditioned or something for the spedometer?

vss = vehicle speed signal. That sounds like a good candidate, if it is a 12v signal especially. Put a voltmeter on that lead and roll the car around with the ignition on and see what you get.
