Vtec-E is where its @
Hey, my names Vince and i currently own a 96 Honda Hx
And I think i'm addicted to mpg  It all started when my mom bought a Prius and every time i would borrow it I would just geek out on trying to achieve the max mpg and return it with a higher average. Currently I can average about 75 mpg with mostly in city driving in that thing. I was kinda disappointed it didn't come with a "smart" cruise control though. Anyway, back to the Honda Bone stock - recent tune up 180,000 miles current average - 44 mpg mixed 30% city/ 70 % highway Odometer has been GPS verified I have some mods done that hurt the mpg a little bit to achieve better handling. Integra alloy five spoke 15x6 (16lbs) with Falken Ziex 912 205-50-15s. Also a Full-Race traction bar has replaced the stock front cross member. Right now i'm trying to source an original set of Hx rims (12 lbs) with a LLR set of tires for long trips for that extra 2-3 mpg. The car is also lowered about 2-3 inches with a full Eibach Sportline suspension kit that is showing its age and will be swapped out with a complete Bilstein sport kit. I also recently installed a carbon front lip and a vacuum gauge but haven't run through a full tank yet to verify any changes. Planned mods - Full Fiberglass belly pan Custom stainless steel header hx rims with LLR tires fully adjustable grill block oil pressure and temp guages TPS meter Dwell meter for leanburn monitoring Rear sideskirts Ac clutch on power steering pump And a turbo is in the future  40 mpg + 200 hp is totally possible So yeah, i'll post up some pix when i can |
its got that vtach yo!
Pretty cool man, I hope your plans come to fruition. Any other aeromods planned? |
the goal is only 50 mpg mixed city/highway N/A
not to fond of the spaceship look, lol I was looking into making my own trunk lip though |

We'll wear down your resistance to the spaceship look, don't worry. :P
Looking forward to the pics, and the progress on your mods list. Welcome to the site! |

Welcome to EM! Your HX has a VX lineage, so you're gonna have some MPG fun with your car no doubt. CarloSW2 |
Thanks
In my line of work I sweat all day to produce products that help make insanely powerful engines so this kind of project is fun because its different. The best part is that i can use the same fabrication skills and equipment on this project. Oh, also a leanburn cruise control will be added to the vehicle for maximum possible mpg. Also I am a huge fan of water/meth injection kits for forced induction and from what ive researched they can be of some benifit to a NA application as far as efficiency is concerned. And in the next few weeks I plan to build a custom stainless "ramhorn" turbo manifold with a full 2.25 inch exhaust. No turbo just yet ;) Here are my ultimate plans -finish all mods -achieve max mpg N/A -swap y5 bottom end for z6 -install custom turbo kit, tune with Neptune (200 hp wanted, 300hp capable block, turbo limited for maximum response. -custom tune to mimic leanburn maps up to 18 to 1 or so (hope to still achieve 40 mpg) -refresh y5 bottom end So I would have the best of both worlds, and it only takes a weekend to swap engines. Alot of people think i'm crazy, just wanted to throw that out there, haha And these forums are great |

A little dusty from a awesome camping trip
I know the front lip may look a little much but I didnt pay anything for it and it looks like it will integrate really well with a full length belly pan. Temps here are 100+ on the regular so tint is in order the next time I get paid. |
