Volkswagen recalled 482,000 VW & Audi cars in the US after the EPA found models with Type EA 189 engines had been fitted with a subversive device designed to hide but did not lower emissions of harmful NOx under testing conditions. This also included also into various six-cylinder 3.0 L diesel VW Touareg, Porsche Cayenne and Audi SUVs. VW quickly denied the charges.
