Tesla Motors Did 0-60 in 3.7 seconds, but they're beat

If I'm not mistaken, Tesla Motors claims victory for making an all electric car street legal car that does 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds.

According to this person on EV album, his car does 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, also an AC Induction powered car, and I like the exotic looking car's appearance better too.

Maybe they meant "production car"? Didn't the T-Zero beat that as well? Same drivetrain, it looks like.

There's a significant difference between building a one off (even a kit) and a production model (applies to more than just cars).

kits usually have no safety requirements whereas manufacturers are more or less required. . DMV has very little problem allowing 10 people to drive potentially risky cars, but for a production vehicle the game changes because the potential for hundreds of injuries and congested highways for faulty safety systems. . .

Inspections regulations. . . They have to go above and beyond in everything to avoid getting bogged down under inspection.

Kits get internally inspected and thats it.
