VW Italdesign Giugiaro Clipper
 

Looks like VW's AWD electric concept has one over Tesla's Model X.

Giugiaro has designed a rather pleasant (dull) MPV concept but it's all about the doors! Automotive writers have commented on the pillarless DeLorean/Lambo doors and are worried about, if any, body rigidity/structural safety of a road version.

Butterfly-wing + Gull-wing = won't fly.

I wonder if, when it's raining or snowing and the car is covered with slush and slop, if all that rains down on the interior and occupants?

Not really. Tesla's Model X is pre-production. VW's AWD is a pipe dream. Give a designer some freedom and they forget all about things like physics, engineering, mother nature, safety, government regulations, human limitations and practicality. :D

No 'B' pillar and they don't have latches at that junction. Yes, it is a concept, but that is the sort of detail can nix 'ooo-aah' features.

It has video mirrors like the Model X, and no obvious door handles.

How did I wind up here? ..oh yeah, Fossil Free Fuel. As much as I'm a fan of Giugiaro and VW, I like Ford's entry in the race, from 2011.

Those power doors on the Clipper need dampners so they aren't so jerky opening and closing.
