How will I keep Mom and my brother out of our room when I get married?

In case anyone missed it,

The only way to keep them out before the bolt that is supposed to secure the door on the right broke was to slide a folding chair under the handle, but then when I came out, Mom always told my brother to get the chair.

I can fix it, but I doubt that it will ever withstand a good push ever again, if it ever did.

Before that broke, I always locked my door when I went to the bathroom or showered, yet Mom always got through and asked "Xist! Where are you?! What are you doing?!"

BobVila.com recommends this: Super Heavy Duty Security Door Lock Bar

I also keep thinking about how to soundproof the wall between the master bedroom and the living room, but how do you soundproof doors?!

I keep looking at the middle hinges and wondering how I could run something in between them.

What about short cable loops with a cargo strap in between?

If you've been dating less than 6 months, I want nothing to do with it. If you've been dating longer than 6 months, then congratulations and I'd be honored to celebrate the big day.

Been wondering what got your attention, and didn't really believe it was just grad school.

That's how I missed it, as I have less than zero interest in a coroplast greenhouse. I buy my groceries at a store because I like myself.

My wife still doesn't understand why I was more terrified than ever in my life when I proposed. Sure, I've been arrested and sent to prison. Sure, I've had life and death experiences. Sure, I've spoken publicly...

I was completely aware of what those words meant as I spoke them. Not of the exact details, but of the overall notion that my life as an individual agent was dead. Children were the likely (and wanted) outcome, and that is an enormous burden. Do you sacrifice yourself for the unborn future? Not a decision to take lightly.

Don't really get marrying old, like a 50 year old couple. Not saying it shouldn't be allowed, I just don't get it. The man agrees to enter into a contract where if anyone decides to break it, then the woman gets the advantage? There's no upside there for a man. That has me curious about the 2 guys in the US who are getting paid alimony from their ex-wife (I made that up).

Anyhow, I'm serious about joining the celebration. I'll pick up freebeard and we'll road trip to AZ.

When I got married we had been dating for less than 6 months, neither owned a car nor a house and I made $3 an hour, and she made about $15 per week.

But one thing I did not do was expect my wife to live under the same roof as any of my friends or family. I made sure I had a studio apartment I could afford before getting that marriage certificate.

I moved in with my now wife about 6 months into our relationship. I moved in with her at her parent house. They were all nice people, but her sister had a penchant for stealing from the room, so we ended up screwing (the thing for attaching a padlock to) to the door and frame,.and just put a padlock on it when we left.

That did the job for us, easy to implement.

We were there about 3 years until we saved enough for a house, because we only had to pay a combined £440 a month rent to her parents, and even though we're were both working near minimum wage jobs, we just didn't spend much at all so we could save.

This adage is: two are greater than one. The only side issue I can think of: are the benefits exceeding any and all possible detrimental side effects, aka Chinese water torture.

Will advise better when my personal experiment fails, but after 46 years that failure is getting more improbable, besides she's the one with the money.

When our marriage failed, she wasn't interested in no-fault, so I had to do it myself. The judge awarded custody and alimony to me. At first we traded receipts for alimony vs her interest in the house. But I came into some money and bought out her interest.

She never paid in a dime for about ten years. I got poor and asked her to make a payment. Instead she gave money to a lawyer and sued for custody. When he was 17 years old.

That's when I moved to Tualatin/Beaverton and started making decent money.

I had a coworker that married a gal that wasn't working. In 3 years, she didn't work or take care of the 1-bedroom apartment.

When they divorced, he had to send half his paycheck to her for 5 years while she lived with other boyfriends.

Dating saga last chapter? Perhaps for a while and thats attempting optimism.

If someone tried that half paycheck thing on me, I would probably start being homeless. Irrelevant in my case
