vx ecu in hx

Ok so I just bought a vx transmission. (Super stoked). My hx as it is pretty much only uses lean burn really well at 2500rpm, which would be 74 mph. There arnt any speed limits that high where I live. So. If I got the p07 vx ecu and an obd2 to obd1 jumper harness would it work or what? What all do I need to do? Has anyone done this?

I'd be very skeptical about that match. The D16Y5 and D15Z1 are very different engines.

Yah I started to realize that once I saw the intake manifold and throttle body were completely different.

Assuming your HX is OBD2 and the VX is not, you will have a multitude of problems without practical solutions. One I know of is the OBD2 capability of reading the engines cylinder balance while it is running. This is done with a sensor that actually counts the teeth on the starter ring gear as the engine is running. Since the VX never had this capability you will get an error code without the sensor.

I can virtually guarantee you the ECU will not work. You may be able to swap the guts from the VX tranny but without the HX bellhousing and the previouslymentioned sensor there and functioning you will have a check engine light on constantly, which will fail inspection in a lot of areas.

Well actually I was going to use an obd2 to obd1 jumper harness which is pretty common in the honda world and then it would just run like an obd1. I'm guessing you are talking about the crank angle sensor? There is a little trick i and other people use to get around that by using the hall sensor in the distributor i think. And the transmission bolts right up as it is. I was just concerned that the lean burn will be to high on my hx. But it's fine. I'm just going to run it like this. It will be cool.
