Auxillary vacuum reservoir

I haven't seen anyone do a stainless tank yet so I figured I'd throw this one up I just completed. This one (the large tank is for the brakes) has a volume of 126"^3, which should hopefully be equal to that of the brake booster itself so hopefully it will double my braking during EOC.

On my 12 minute drive to work 4.5 minutes of that is coasting at one time, it takes a bit of effort to stop even in my 2230 lb civic hatch when I run out of vacuum. These tanks are going in an Integra so hopefully they'll last all the way to the bottom of the mountain.

Those look pretty nice. Where did they come from? I have a stainless tank in my Previa, also reclaimed. Mine is good for about 8 good, full stops. I also have a vac gauge to monitor the tank.

Those will look good under the hood! Are you leaving them together? What will you use the other for?

I planned on using some small aluminum oxygen tanks from a portable oxygen (breathing apparatus) setup. I have 3 long tanks and like 5 shorties that I can use. I'm not sure which ones I'll use, if I even bother with vacuum assisted brakes. (I don't need them, by any stretch of the imagination.)

Those certainly are nice tanks, though. I have some candy cobalt paint that would make them really stand out... LOL.

I fabbed those tanks up here in the shop with left over exhaust parts, a 3" off my civic and 4" from a cummins. There was some aluminum laying around as well, but a bit more difficult to weld so I opted for the stainless scrap bin. A long 3.5" pipe under the bumper support would have worked better volume wise, but the darn AC line is in the way - the price for keeping accessories.

A gauge is a great idea and plan to install one myself.

2nd tank is for a MAP sensing throttle feedback system I'm working on.

Long tube right between the head lights... there's no grille there anyway, so no point in leaving that space open, right?

Thats some sweet welding there Greasemonkee! Looks like TIG although a 12 gauge rod could weld like that too.

I ran out of of vacuum today coasting into my driveway; had to use the e-brake.

Got a best-ever 27mpg on my commute home from work though! Not bad considering before I started hypermiling I was averaging 13-16mpg.
